About the Role
Title: Writer, Taxes | Bankrate

Job Description:
Red Ventures is looking for a Tax Editor to help build a new category on Bankrate. The editor will be responsible for assigning content, updating existing stories, editing articles from staff and freelance writers, as well as collaborating with our SEO team to optimize content for search engines.
The editor should have a strong understanding of the tax space, superb editing skills, as well as project management, communication and content strategy skills. The ability to work well in a team setting is a must.
What You’ll Do:
Identify, pitch, assign and edit tax articles that rank highly on search and resonate with our consumer audience
Pitch creative ideas on how Bankrate can stand out in the tax space
Check story drafts for errors, typos and linking opportunities
Do keyword research to identify content gaps and opportunities to refresh and optimize existing content
Monitor key trends and news in the tax space to drive decisions on emerging content opportunities
Work with freelance writers for content creation, and identify new ones as needed
Edit content for AP style, brand voice and tone
Build industry connections with top tax experts
Create, produce and publish stories in our content management system (WordPress)
What We’re Looking For:
2+ years of writing/editing personal finance content with experience covering taxes
Excellent research, writing and editorial skills, with the ability to effectively communicate edits to writers
Enthusiasm for leveraging technology to find efficiencies in the content workflow
Experience meeting tight deadlines while working independently to manage multiple projects
Ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities while keeping up with a fast-paced environment
Ability to edit content based on SEO concepts and best practices
Ability to grasp the voice, style and tone of the Bankrate brand
Demonstrated ability to work closely with a team and individually as needed
Understanding of AP style
Compensation:
Cash compensation range: $70,000 – $85,000*
NYC cash compensation range: $70,000 – $102,000
Note: actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
