Job Description:

Dover Precision Components is hiring a Senior Project Engineer for our Cook Compression brand, located at our South Houston/Pearland, TX manufacturing facility. We offer competitive pay and benefits and the ability to work remotely 2 days a week in this hybrid-remote role.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As the Project Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of 4 application engineers, providing a turnkey approach for reapplication, technical upgrades, operational and maintenance reliability improvements of reciprocating compressors by providing full Engineered Solutions using a Project Charter methodology. You will assist Sales and Engineering in identifying and developing new opportunities and be a technical consultant at a compressor systems level to the Customer, and internal teams. You will help identify leads, opportunities, and customer ROI justifications. You may act as the primary liaison with customers for resolution of technical matters and the development of solutions for customer projects. Role includes:

Develop close working relationships with key customers’ technical contacts, ensuring that business opportunities and strategic initiatives are recognized and responded to appropriately at an early stage.

Travel to interact with customers to identify opportunities, engineer solutions, and manage projects pre and post contract.

Mentor a team of 4, providing coaching, guidance, and assisting with career development. Lead in a matrix and global organization with direct reports in the UK and USA currently.

Provide compressor performance analysis using proprietary software to analyze the health and potential for compressor improvement and upgrades.

Complete written project charters, quotes, and datasheets to document all work between the customer and Cook Compression.

Analyze product designs utilizing Dover Precision Components (DPC) tools and practices, interpret results and determine optimum solution to the customers’ problem. Prepare technical information for new projects to customers’ specifications.

Work closely with sales, operations, field service and vendors to ensure successful completion of engineering projects. Participate in client/contractor meetings.

Assist in the preparation of engineering project proposals.

Prepare customer operating and maintenance documentation to support individual projects.

Assist new product development and chief engineers in developing advanced analysis tools.

Participate in establishing new work processes within engineering to support new products and service offerings for compressors and associated systems.

Interpret designs, perform all engineering calculations, examine specifications, expedite and process engineering changes.

Lead training seminars at customer and/or internal sites as needed and be able to fine-tune the training to the specific needs of the audience.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

8+ years’ in mechanical/ industrial engineering with rotating equipment experience.

3+ years of engineering/ manufacturing project management experience.

Ability to travel up to 20% (Houston area and client sites nationwide).

Practical knowledge working with compressors.

Strong understanding of Engineering Principles and design practices.

Demonstrated ability to create ideas and develop solutions.

Excellent problem-solving skills.

Excellent communicating and influencing skills. Experience working directly with customers is preferred.

Familiar with the impact of the manufacturing process on the key factors that control the form, fit, and function of a bearing and/or compressor.

ALSO GREAT IF YOU BRING/ PREFERENCES

Master’s degree.

Reciprocating compressor experience, including installation, skid system (engine, frame, foundation, throws, lubrication, etc.), and supporting equipment such as piping, controls, filters, and heat exchangers.

Familiarity with 3D CAD & strong computer skills.

Supervision and/or team leadership experience.
