ERG (www.erg.com) is seeking a full-time geologist or environmental scientist to support and lead projects related to Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments in support of EPA’s Brownfields program. We offer a flexible work environment, including a remote or remote/office hybrid option in our Northern Virginia, Research Triangle Park, NC, or Concord, Massachusetts offices. Job Description:

Support and lead site-specific Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments

Review historical records related to property, including land use history, ownership, and environmental records

Conduct physical site inspections to observe current conditions

Interview past and present property owners, neighbors, and workers to gather information about site operations involving wastes and chemicals

Develop sampling plans and health and safety plans to collect soil, groundwater, and other samples for laboratory testing

Coordinate with analytical testing to arrange for sample analysis

Review results and prepare Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessment Reports

Qualifications and Skills:

B.S. in geology or related degree

4-7 years of experience conducting and leading environmental sampling work for various environmental media (e.g. soil, groundwater, air)

Experience conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with ASTM standards

Strong technical writing skills, with experience writing Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessment Reports

Ability to travel once a month

Experience with EPA’s Brownfields program
