The College of Education is seeking an salaried Academic Wage: Project Director. This is a part-time (0.50 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term position. This position is anticipated to last approximately 12 months.

This is a half-time (.5 FTE), 12-month, academic wage position, running late January 2025-late January 2026. The project is headquartered in the College of Education at Oregon State University (OSU), and requires in-person work on the Corvallis campus, with some remote work for this position allowed.

This Project Director position supports the EDU (Education) Phd program renovation, with various academic options, as well as potential creation of a related master’s program and certificate. The project will create new academic programming, for launch at OSU in fall 2026.

This position, under the direction of the interim EDU PhD Program Chair and in close collaboration with Program faculty, will play a key role in managing all project planning, including co-leading strategic planning for the project and coordinating project meetings and activities including establishing internal processes and controls, helping to coordinate program faculty work and that of a student advisory group, helping to enter and advance program aspects into pertinent OSU systems for approval, helping to guide and coordinate recruiting activities, and other management functions. The Project Director will also represent the project at OSU meetings with the OSU Graduate School and other programs’ renovation teams across campus. The Director will act as a main project liaison to other administrative units at Oregon State University, including the Graduate School. The Director will support and provide strategic advice and input to the interim chair and program faculty on all decisions regarding project directions and activities.

The Director will create and expand opportunities to encourage diverse student dialogue and faculty decision-making, including engaging historically marginalized and underserved populations. The Director will collaborate with external organizations to coordinate support for diverse faculty and groups of students (e.g., culturally informed professional relationships and research opportunities). The Director will assist with the development of culturally inclusive and socially cognizant marketing/promotional materials that ensure communication to a broad and diverse audience.

Key Responsibilities

60% – Manage/facilitate all aspects of the project involving OSU personnel and activities, including:

20% – Monitor, track, and disseminate progress toward project goals across all activities, including creating timelines and processes, co-creating agendas and leading of meetings, recording meetings/notes, coordinating/entering all programmatic documents into pertinent OSU systems, tracking OSU approvals.

20% – Participate in and co-lead strategic planning for project and related future work, including acting as part of faculty group and supporting and providing strategic advice and input to the interim chair and program faculty on all decisions regarding project directions, decisions, and activities, and supporting student advisory group to decide on academic program pathways, curricula, admissions and evaluation activities and structures, and other policies. Collaborate with external organizations to coordinate support for diverse faculty and groups of students (e.g., culturally informed professional relationships and research opportunities).

What You Will Need

Earned doctorate.

At least 3 years project or organizational management experience.

Experience planning and facilitating workshops or meetings.

Experience delivering or supporting graduate-level postsecondary educational programs and educators.

Excellent organization, written, and oral communication skills.

Demonstrated ability or potential to work effectively as part of a team of diverse stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability or potential to manage a project or program or organization.

Demonstrated ability to track, organize, evaluate and communicate information and data.

Demonstrated ability to connect with and communicate with diverse audiences

Demonstrated experience working with academic programs that support or engage communities of color and people that hold identities that have been historically underrepresented and underserved in higher education.

Demonstrated experience providing guidance to students from a variety of cultural backgrounds.

Demonstrated experience creating and building relationships with external organizations.

What We Would Like You to Have

5 years+ project management

Organizational leadership.

Experience interacting with postsecondary educational programming approval structures, especially at a larger research-extensive university (OSU preferred).

Experience helping to coordinate a doctoral program in the social sciences.

Experience delivering and/or managing externally funded educational programs including progress reporting to funding agencies.

Experience supporting faculty and other organizational leaders in processes reflecting on power and privilege and social identities and cultural experiences.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule

This position requires some work in an office or meeting spaces on the OSU Corvallis campus. Some work may be completed remotely (off campus) per discussions/planning with supervisor.
