Overview Of Position

Senior Staff Counsel will provide legal advice and recommendations on a broad array of matters such as contracts, non-disclosure agreements, third party agreements, corporate policies, corporate compliance, legal investigations and advising on human resource & employment law matters. Additionally, this position will support the legal team by providing guidance and recommendations on legal matters, including advertising & claims review in compliance with the FTC and FDA requirements.

Job Responsibilities

Provides support for OPTAVIA through field policy compliance of third-party website use, advertising materials, use of corporate intellectual property, training presentations, public appearances and inter-field relationships domestically and internationally.

Provides legal counsel and guidance on all company marketing materials, websites, apps and advertising projects.

Assist on HR/employment matters on behalf of the Company including reviewing the company employee handbook, garnishments, 401 K and other matters addressing hiring and Separation Agreements.

Maintains working knowledge of general corporate legal matters of a public company.

Ensures compliance with PCI rules and provide guidance on protection of consumer data.

Provides regulatory compliance for entry into new markets and supervises outside counsel.

Provides contract review and drafting of a variety of Company-related contracts.

Provides effective leadership, direction and coaching to direct and indirect reports including, but not limited to, delegating, staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations and terminations.

Knowledge, Education, Skills & Abilities

Bachelor’s Degree and J.D. required.

Active law license in any state, in good standing.

4+ years related attorney level experience in regulatory and general corporate practice areas.

Contract and Policy review and drafting experience required.HR and employment law experience required.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to break down and communicate complex issues into easily understood directives.

Some travel required, 3-5 times per year.

Required in office Monday through Thursday, remote on Friday.
