Research Administrator- Lieberman Lab

Program in Cellular and Molecular Medicine – Lieberman Lab

 

Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Research Administrator supports the smooth functioning of a cutting-edge laboratory that studies immune response to infection and cancer. They are responsible for organizing lab meetings, travel arrangements, coordinating visits from scientists, biosketch and grant preparation, developing budgets, purchasing lab supplies, managing lab IT needs, maintaining spreadsheets to track expenses and funding, overseeing protocols for animal and human subjects research. They will also be responsible for onboarding lab personnel, preparing academic appointments, and arranging lab social events. They verify lab members are in compliance with training and regulatory requirements. They oversee reporting of personnel effort, grants and legal documents for the Program, Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

 

This Research Administrator will be responsible for:

Assists PI with pre-award management including budgeting, collection of grant materials to ensure conformity with sponsor guidelines and hospital policy;

Works closely with the lab manager and scientists to document inventory of supplies and equipment, and purchase materials using a CRM-based application;

Arranges payments for the lab and approves purchase requisitions;

Works with institutional central offices (Office of Sponsored Programs, Research Admin., Res. Finance, Accounts Payable) to troubleshoot and resolve matters;

Prepares financial reports to monitor grant expenses to ensure compliance with sponsored award terms/conditions;

Participates in timely grant/award renewal and the closeout of sponsored activities;

Serves as a liaison between the Principal Investigator and hospital administration;

Collaborates with Office of Immigration to prepare personnel US Visa applications;

Drafts written communications, documentation, letters of grant submissions;

Attends institutional training to keep skills current and knowledge up-to-date on sponsor regulations, hospital policies, and emerging technologies.

In order to qualify, you must have:

Bachelor’s degree and some scientific background or administrative experience. Master’s degree preferred.

Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Drive and grant management systems.

Experience with NIH and federal funding agency grant applications.

Strong organizational and analytical skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

PeopleSoft HRM and financial management systems experience preferred.
