Introduction/Job Purpose:

The Permit Coordinator II serves to assist in the updating and issuance of National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) general and individual master permits.

Job Duties:

I. Drafting and issuing Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4) general permits. Reviews applications, monitoring data, stormwater management plans. Coordinates with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 4. Coordinates permitting activities with internal and external stakeholders.

Drafting and issuing MS4 individual permits. Reviews applications, monitoring data, stormwater management plans. Coordinates with EPA. Coordinates permitting activities with internal and external stakeholders.

Assists with drafting and issuing general permits for construction and industrial permitting. Coordinates with EPA. Coordinates permitting activities with internal and external stakeholders.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

DES Minimum: A master’s degree in the natural or physical sciences or related technical field; or a bachelor’s degree in the natural or physical sciences or related technical field and one (1) year of environmental health or related experience; or an associate degree in the natural or physical sciences or related technical field and three (3) years of environmental health or related experience; or high school diploma and five (5) years of environmental health or related experience.

Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Preferred Qualifications

A master’s degree in the natural or physical sciences or related technical field; or a bachelor’s degree in the natural or physical sciences or related technical field and one (1) year of environmental health or related experience.
