Position Summary

As a Middleware Architect, you will be part of a dedicated team that plays a critical role in ETF’s modernization efforts. You will be involved in all aspects of middleware including strategy, technical design, development, implementation, governance, and testing utilizing mainframe, web, mobile, and cloud platforms and software. You will collaborate with technical staff at ETF, colleagues from other state agencies, and vendors to ensure that product acceptance criteria is clear, meets technical users’ requirements, and is implemented effectively.

Salary Information

This position may be hired at either the Specialist or Consultant/Administrator level. The Specialist level is in classification IS Systems Development Services Specialist (pay schedule/range 07-33); the Consultant/Administrator level is in classification IS Systems Development Services Consultant/Administrator (pay schedule/range 07-32). The annual salary is $81,120.00 – $123,468.80, depending on level hired and qualifications, plus excellent benefits. Pay for current and new state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire.

Job Details

ETF offers hybrid remote/office work. If interested in hybrid remote/office work, this can be discussed in more detail during the interview process. The selected employee(s) must report to ETF’s office on the first day of employment and for occasional onsite meetings and events. In addition, the employee may need to report to ETF on short notice as operational needs require. All employees are expected to be headquartered and work within the state of Wisconsin.

ETF does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.

A 12-month probationary is required.

Qualifications

Minimally Qualified candidates will have experience in all of the following:

Implementing and supporting middleware web hosting technologies

Implementing and supporting solutions in a Linux server and/or cloud hybrid environment

Automating processes (e.g., batch jobs, CI/CD pipelines, observability, metrics reporting, etc.) through use of scripts, development, and/or software tools

Highly Qualified candidates will also have experience with some of the following:

ITIL experience and/or certification

Supporting DevOps technologies

Providing leadership to peers (e.g., leading a team in accomplishing a technical project or assignment, training others to complete a task, providing feedback on work, etc.)

NOTE: If the position is filled at the Consultant/Administrator level, candidates must have prior experience developing strategic solutions for complex application hosting and/or system integrations and using development software (e.g., Java, Python, react, C, C#, C++, etc.). Level of position will be determined based on the qualifications of the selected candidates at the time of hire.
