The Cincinnati Insurance Companies’ Legal Litigation office in Independence, Ohio is currently seeking a legal assistant to assist attorneys by typing legal documents and correspondence, maintaining files, maintaining schedules and answering the telephone.

Starting Hourly Rate of Pay: The pay range for this position is $18.15-$36.06 hourly. The pay determination is based on the applicant’s education, experience, location, knowledge, skills and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance.

Be ready to:

maintain a large volume of files

prepare legal documents, correspondence, and memoranda

prioritize assignments

process mail, review and route incoming mail, prepare and process outgoing mail

maintain attorney calendar

type, revise and proofread legal documents

request and follow-upon legal records and court filings

prepare reports, check requests and assist with client billing

perform special administrative projects

answer phones

interact with others in a variety of circumstances, maintaining professionalism and composure under pressure

develop and maintain good working relationships with Claims Department

develop and maintain good working relationships with court personnel

Be equipped with:

6 years of civil litigation experience – and/or insurance defense experience preferred

good follow up practices with attention to detail

excellent typing and word processing skills

excellent organizational and communication skills

experience with Microsoft products

familiarity with local courts

ability to handle multiple projects at once

ability to work well with a team and independently

ability to handle a large volume and variety of work

maintain composure and professionalism under pressure

maintain strict confidentiality with respect to information learned as a result of involvement with litigation processes
