Job Description:

The CalSTRS Investments Branch is seeking a motivated individual to work as an Investment Officer I on the Investment Performance Team.

CalSTRS Investment Performance unit ensures data accuracy through a robust examination, resulting in comprehensive performance reporting and analytics. We provide oversight of performance data and cost measurement for Total Fund reporting, attribution analysis, composite construction, investment disclosures and Board presentations for CalSTRS global portfolio.

Under the direction of the Associate Portfolio Manager, the Investment Officer I is responsible for assisting and providing investment performance analysis and reporting. The incumbent will research performance and attribution data for CalSTRS’ funds, aggregates and indices, research industry best practices, and assist asset class staff to resolve performance discrepancies. The incumbent is responsible for performing the less complex duties requiring independence, confidentiality, creativity and discretionary judgment.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

Experience reporting or interpreting investment performance data

Experience or knowledge performing investment performance attribution analysis

Strong analytical problem-solving skills

Ability to research, analyze, and interpret complex technical information

Ability to present information clearly, both orally and in writing, to a wide range of audiences

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Duties will be adjusted at the Investment Officer II level. The Investment Officer II position is eligible for incentive compensation and has a maximum incentive opportunity of 10% of base salary.

 

An incumbent who possesses a professional certification as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) may receive a 5% monthly base pay differential.

 

Every 12 months, based on performance evaluation, employees may receive a 5% salary increase until they reach the maximum salary for the position.

Working Conditions

CalSTRS offers a hybrid approach with staff working on-site at our Headquarters in West Sacramento 2-3 days per week.

 

All staff of CalSTRS are employees of the State of California and subject to California employment taxes and withholdings. Upon appointment, staff are required to provide a current California address to CalSTRS Human Resources to be used as a remote work location.

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment with CalSTRS.
