Role Summary:
The Business Data Architect brings a strong technical background and expertise in designing and developing scalable enterprise solutions. This includes extracting data from source systems, transforming it based on business rules and data management (MDM) standards, and loading it into operational and presentation models.
You will collaborate with data engineers and Product owners, including business stakeholders to understand data requirements, define data standards, and ensure data integrity and accessibility across the organization. The Business Data Architect will help build a robust data environment to support analytics, reporting, and data-driven decision-making. This role requires strong understanding of database methodology, data analysis and advanced SQL along with their business intelligence application.
What You’ll do:
Utilize your expertise in SQL and ETL processes implementing enterprise data solutions from inception to completion for high levels of data availability, reliability, integrity, dissemination and security.
Utilize your knowledge of structured data, such as entities, classes, hierarchies, relationships and metadata to build processes and reporting.
Utilize your expertise of database management system (DBMS) including tables, joins and SQL querying to capture, build data pipeline/processing strategies with structured data design.
Design and develop a scalable data architecture framework to support current and future business requirements.
Define data models, metadata, and data integration strategies.
Ensure alignment of data architecture with enterprise architecture standards and best practices.
Combine data from multiple sources when needed for analysis.
Create and maintain documentation for data models, architecture diagrams, and data management procedures.
Utilize your knowledge in relational and dimensional data modeling and working in a multi-tier data delivery environment for pipeline buildout.
Serve as a key team member, working closely with the Director of Business Data Architecture to support cross-functional initiatives and provide backup support as needed to ensure seamless operations.
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information technology or equivalent required.
Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering preferred.
Overall, at least 10+ years of hands-on technical experience with 5+ years encompassing data analytics, data architecture, data warehousing, data management and data modelling, with a broad range of enterprise wide implementation across data platforms.
5+ years of at least one ETL tool experience required.
5 + years of Business Intelligence application delivery required – Experience in Microsoft stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, SQL Server) preferred
Proficiency in data modeling and design principles for enterprise data, including SQL development and data warehouse management.
Ability to implement common data management and reporting design, as well as the basics of columnar and NoSQL databases
Solid understanding of BI reporting tools, PowerBI preferred
Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or Java is a plus.
Experience with Microsoft Azure Platform – Emphasis on Power Platform, Azure Data Services (SQL Server, Data Lake, DataVerse) a plus

This is a full-time, hybrid role where you will work from the Manhattan office two – three days a week. The salary range is $115,000 – $140,000, dependent on experience.
