At GDIT, we foster a people-centric environment. As a Senior DevOps Support Engineer, you will be trusted to develop, maintain, and support DevOps practices, including deployment support. IN addition, you will monitor and support daily systems operations, including daily production jobs and system interfaces. In this role, a typical day will include:
As an organized, analytical problem solver, you will work with the DevOps team to design, develop, and maintain software and tools to support building, deploying, and monitoring applications
Deploy and configure cloud services according to best practice
Develop better and more efficient ways of delivering solutions that meet business objectives
Creates/updates and maintains system documentation
Write process requirements, technical design documents, and standard operating procedures
Responsible for continually advancing the technology in a collaborative and creative Agile environment using many of the latest technologies and industry best practices
Designs, plans, and integrates cloud computing and virtualization systems using infrastructure as code and modern cloud-native deployment techniques such as DevOps and/or DevSecOps.
Design and support Continuous Delivery
Work with Solution Architects to conduct proof of concepts (POCs) and assist in Production implementations
Assess existing application stacks and suggest cloud native services for applicability
Assess existing environments for opportunities to simply, automate or bring efficiency to technical processes
Develops automation scripts for efficient deployment and operations of cloud environments
Advanced troubleshooting including analyzing log & trace files, opening service requests, collecting documentation, working with vendors, and driving problem resolution
Perform and automate Windows and database administration activities, and lead and collaborate with the development team on continually improving our processes
Conduct investigations and analysis to provide recommendations regarding technology improvements, development best practices, standardization, upgrades, and modifications to the DevOps process
Monitor daily production jobs to ensure proper execution
Conduct production troubleshooting to ensure system is properly processing data files and ensure system interfaces are operational
Work collaboratively and effectively with all levels of management and staff within the organization
Required Skills:
10+ years of experience supporting IT infrastructure
5+ years of experience DevOps or cloud architecture in Azure or AWS</li>
5+ years of experience with supporting and developing DevOps processes using Git, Jira, Jenkins, Azure DevOps or other CI/CD tools
5+ years of experience creating deployment scripts with Jenkins or Azure Pipes
Experience with documenting procedures
Working knowledge of software deployment, versioning, and release management processes
Experience working with and supporting software production server environments
Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance
Desired Skills:
Experience with Copado
Experience working with database technology
Salesforce administration and deployment experience
Experience in Agile practices
Experienced in Agile software development practices and tools, such as Atlassian JIRA
Work experience supporting Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) agency or other Federal agencies
Excellent knowledge of best practices and an understanding of industry trends and difficulties
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical topics to management and non-technical audiences
Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to integrate information from multiple sources
Ability to work independently and interact regularly with government and non-government stakeholders at multiple levels of authority
Works well as a team member in a fast-paced and often time-sensitive environment
The likely salary range for this position is $151,725 – $205,275. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
