Opportunity
The Sr. Analyst, Transportation will act as a change agent, helping to develop and introduce new systems and processes to improve visibility, increase labor efficiencies, and reduce costs. Serve as an international transportation subject matter expert supporting strategic projects such as direct import to customers, carrier and forwarder transitions, and freight bids and projections. Develop, analyze and report Performance Metrics relative to international transportation cost, capacity and service performance. Act as a liaison between sales and operations planning and transportation to improve container forecasting. Identify opportunities for internal and external supplier/carrier development and process improvement activities while driving root/cause analysis and corrective action plans as necessary. Analyze freight bill pay and audit procedures, assist in reducing billing discrepancies, and lead efforts to minimize out of cycle freight expenditures.
Specific Responsibilities
Utilize carrier information, SAP data, and reporting tools to generate, monitor, analyze and report on key service and cost metrics for import/export transportation operations.
Provide real-time visibility to international ocean and air imports. Manage daily exceptions and resolve service and capacity interruptions with help from purchasing, scheduling, and carrier teams.
Assist Corporate Purchasing, in the negotiation of ocean freight rates, international airfreight rates, international freight forwarder & customhouse brokers’ fees, and inland freight rates with carriers and carrier rate-making conferences. Calculate freight quotations as requested.
Partner with Sales and Operations Planning to develop accurate container forecasts by lane to secure requisite capacity and timely service. Measure container forecast accuracy and booking lead times.
Maintain a directory of ocean and air freight rates to primary export destinations for use by sales and marketing personnel to assist them in cost quotations.
Monitor, critique, and advise foreign freight forwarders and custom brokers for transportation and documentation requirements.
Support the auditing and payment of freight bills and invoices; Work with coordinators, accounts payable, and 3rd Party firm to improve freight bill pay efficiencies
Participate as Transportation lead in key international projects including direct import, network design changes, freight bids, new plant/supplier start-ups, and network changes.
Skills/Requirements
College degree in Business Administration or related field desired. Courses in transportation, logistics, supply chain management or international business are preferred.
3-5 years practical experience in international transportation with a carrier, shipper, or freight forwarder is preferred. APICS or P Log certification is an asset.
Knowledge of Hazardous Materials requirements; certification are preferred.
Knowledge of SAP is preferred. Computer and MS Office dexterity is required. Spreadsheet and database proficiency is expected.
Knowledge of import/export compliance and other governmental trade regulations is desirable.
Strong analytical skills.

The salary range for this position is $69,800 – $87,950. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
