Overview:
As the Public Relations Manager at AMSURG you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our communication strategies across various channels. Reporting directly to the Director of Communications, you will manage media relations, agency partnerships, public relations initiatives, and crisis communications. This role demands a strategic thinker with exceptional communication skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to navigate complex situations with finesse. Work Schedule:
This role is offered on a fully remote basis allowing our Public Relations Manager to be based anywhere in the country. Periodic travel of approximately 20% is anticipated to our corporate office, engage with ASCs, attend industry events, and participate in field marketing initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and execute comprehensive media strategies to enhance brand visibility and reputation.
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets.
Proactively pitch stories, press releases, and news updates to relevant media channels.
Serve as company spokesperson.
Advise C-suite to articulate corporate positions, key messages, media opportunities and risks, and provide media coaching to potential spokespeople throughout the organization.
Monitor media coverage and industry trends to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
Coordinate media interviews, press conferences, and other media engagements.
Oversee relationships with external agencies, including PR firms, advertising agencies, and media buying agencies, providing direction, feedback, and guidance to ensure deliverables meet quality standards and deadlines.
Collaborate with internal marketing and communications teammates and agencies to develop integrated communication campaigns aligned with business objectives.
Draft compelling press releases, articles, and other communication materials to convey key messages and announcements.
Identify speaking opportunities, awards, and industry events to position critical executives as thought leaders in their respective fields.
Monitor and respond promptly and professionally to media, stakeholders, and public inquiries.
Leverage social media platforms and digital channels to amplify PR efforts and engage with target audiences.
Develop crisis communication protocols and procedures to manage and mitigate reputational risks effectively.
Develop crisis messaging, FAQs, and other communication materials to address potential issues and maintain brand integrity.
Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, IT, HR, and senior leadership teams to ensure alignment and consistency in crisis response efforts.
Security Compliance: Adhere to and promote information systems security policies, standards, and procedures, and report any suspicious activities.
Education & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in communications, public relations, or related roles, focusing on media management and crisis communication.
Experience in the healthcare industry is preferred.
Proven track record of successfully executing integrated communication campaigns and managing media relations.
Strong writing, editing, and presentation skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
Strong reporting, interviewing, and editing skills.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated experience in managing external agency partnerships and budgets.
Proficiency in social media management tools, media monitoring platforms, and MS Office Suite.
Experience working in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines and competing priorities.
Crisis communication training or certification is a plus.
