Description
Franklin University invites applicant for a full-time 12-month, Program Chair member for its Radiology Technician Program. Franklin University is a private, independent, accredited, not-for-profit University located in Columbus, Ohio. The Program Chair has primary responsibility for Program oversight and direction. This includes academic quality, curriculum content, collaboration in course development and assessment activities, teaching, leadership of lead faculty and supervision of adjunct faculty, service on University committees, engagement with professional and academic communities, and, as needed, programmatic, divisional, and University responsibilities. Preference will be given to candidates who will work an onsite hybrid schedule, but consideration will be given to candidates who work remotely with a commitment to be onsite when needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching
รขยยข Teaches courses within discipline areas consistent with the Program Chair’s specific training and competence. Promotes and directs successful student learning in keeping with the student-centered values and goals of the University.
Curricular Management
รขยยข Serves as a subject matter expert for all courses under stewardship
รขยยข Aligns Program curriculum and outcomes with appropriate accreditation bodies, standards of practice and certification requirements
รขยยข Assures Program standards and course consistency, collaborating with instructional design teams in creating course outlines and final course designs, utilizing creative and innovative approaches
รขยยข Maintains a course development schedule, in consultation with the Department Chair and the International Institute for Innovative Instruction (I4), to sustain curriculum that is responsive to society, professions and business communities
Management
รขยยข Acts as the University’s communications focal point regarding Program priorities, goals, intent and curricular content
รขยยข Serves at the Program’s liaison to Transfer Credit, Student Affairs, Enrollment Management and other University departments with regards to student requests, questions and issues
รขยยข Provides leadership for Program lead faculty and supervision of Program adjunct faculty
รขยยข Ensures teaching excellence by conducting regular teaching observations and providing feedback, coaching and evaluations to the Program’s lead and adjunct faculty
รขยยข Evaluates and addresses staffing needs by interviewing, credentialing, onboarding and overseeing adjunct faculty working collaboratively with Human Resources and CTE
รขยยข Plans, assesses and recommends, in partnership with Department Chairs and the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE), teaching faculty enhancements needed to maintain the Program’s quality and integrity
รขยยข Completes an annual Program assessment in coordination with the University’s assessment office
รขยยข Conducts periodic Program reviews in accordance with established formats and schedules to ensure Program quality and alignment with national curricular standards
รขยยข Oversees waivers and exceptions regarding program-specific curricular inquiries
รขยยข Approves the assignment and evaluation of student internships and independent studies as required Scholarship and Professional Development
รขยยข Actively engages in professional development activities to improve one’s own professional skills and field expertise
รขยยข Engages in scholarly activities beyond those associated with teaching such as research, preparing publications and/or sharing knowledge through presentations
Community Engagement
รขยยข Cultivates purposeful relationships with Program-related community individuals, groups, and organizations in consultation and/or coordination with other institutional leaders
รขยยข Develops and maintains an active and engaged Program Advisory Board(s) and regularly convenes Advisory Board(s) meetings
รขยยข Represents and promotes the Program and the University at professional meetings, and with other external and internal constituencies
รขยยข Collaborates with the Marketing Department in developing and executing marketing to promote the Program
รขยยข Actively supports collaborative University partnership opportunities (e.g., FranklinWorks) as well as Global Partnerships and Co-Locations and other identified opportunities
Service
รขยยข Utilizes academic and professional expertise to serve the profession and the community; examples include participating on Boards, governmental bodies, and leadership teams of professional associations
รขยยข Supports College and University strategic initiatives by participating in University service, including Faculty Senate and its committees and other University task forces and committees
รขยยข Attends all University commencements
รขยยข Performs other duties as assigned by the Department Chair or Dean
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
รขยยข Master’s or Doctorate degree in field appropriate to the College, from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credit hours in discipline
รขยยข Must possess a current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Radiography.
รขยยข Three years’ clinical experience in the profession.
รขยยข Two years’ experience as an instructor in a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)-accredited program.
รขยยข Proficiency in curriculum design, evaluation, instruction, program administration, and academic advising.
รขยยข Computer proficiency is required
รขยยข Must be able to communicate in a professional manner and work effectively with faculty, staff and members of the professional community
รขยยข Must be organized, have effective multi-tasking skills, and be able to work in a rapidly changing environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
รขยยข Five years or more of professional experience in the field
รขยยข Scholarship and research are encouraged
