Position performs advanced secretarial assignments and assists the county director in the management of day-to-day activities. Serves as liaison to staff and county director; has knowledge of the director’s viewpoint in relation to sensitive and difficult situations and issues, prepares and edits materials for director’s decisions, interprets and disseminates information and coordinates office activities. Assists Director with scheduling of meetings/events and entering them into calendar. This position involves handling highly confidential matters for staff and management. Position serves as the local office human resources liaison, including assisting county management with hiring processes. Position also functions as first line supervisor overseeing administrative support staff and serves in an administrative support capacity as a member of the tri-county management team. Position is responsible for the overall day to day supervision that includes assigning work and reviewing work.

Required Education and Experience

Education

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.

 

Experience

Six years of administrative support experience where use of a personal computer to prepare correspondence, reports, charts, etc., or to enter/retrieve/update information is an essential part of the work, including three years equivalent to advanced (8) level administrative support work, Secretary E8, or Legal Secretary E8; two years equivalent to a Secretary 9, Legal Secretary 9, or Senior Executive Management Assistant 9; or, one year equivalent to a Division Head Legal Secretary 10 or Executive Secretary E10.

The physical location of this position is Livingston County. Based on operational needs and within established limits, remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered.

 

Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.

 

Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:

A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.

A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.

Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.
