Communications Specialist – Remote Position

Hours: Full-time (40 hours/week)

The Communications Specialist will primarily be responsible for leading the strategic priorities of corporate communications related to internal and crisis communications. This individual will direct Bethany’s core messaging and communications to ensure that they are clear, thorough, on-brand, and seek to preserve the Bethany’s image. This individual will also define performance metrics and measures the success of specific communications.
This position is expected to function effectively with moderate supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the strategic priorities of our corporate communications related to internal communications and crisis communications;
Design a communication strategy in partnership with cross functional leaders, while ensuring a standardized and cohesive approach;
Develop and streamline a data reporting process for tracking the impact of communication activities;
Develop and execute comprehensive internal communications strategies via various channels, including Hub posts, email, and other internal platforms;
Create and maintain an active internal communications calendar, ensuring consistency in messaging across all internal channels;
Develop systems for internal communications from other departments within the organization;
Create effective and impactful communication plans that represent Bethany’s purpose and vision, while also supporting the execution of content strategies to drive engagement, build trust, positively shape the corporate reputation, boost employee morale, and impact positive business results;
Work collaboratively with the Marketing, Human Resources, and Donor Engagement team to embrace and communicate Bethany’s brand purpose, messaging, and direction;
Work collaboratively with Headquarters (HQ) departments and branch leadership to understand the cultural norms and/or voice of Bethany staff to create, improve, and maintain effective company wide and targeted internal audience messages;
Collaborate effectively with the Director of Media Relations and Bethany’s Public Relations (PR) firm, to engage Bethany staff and strategic influencers in media relations and other PR activities;
Lead creativeness of employee communications to foster a deeply engaged workforce connected to the company’s strategy and values;
Develop and/or review employee-wide communications, ensuring alignment of brand messaging across multiple employee communication messages and forums;
Develop communication best practices that support internal Bethany teams related to change management efforts and reinforcement of key messages;
Serve as a liaison with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) on special projects and initiatives that may impact Corporate Communications;
Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders and leadership, define their communication requirements, and provide them with strategic advice and counsel;
Actively participate in and coordinate internal meetings and events including but not limited to planning, logistics, communication and presentation materials;
Complete other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s level degree from an accredited college in Marketing, Communications or related field of study;
At least five (5) years of experience in a similar role in communications or project management, non-for-profit industry preferred;
Must have a broad knowledge of basic principles, concepts, and methodology of communication;
Prior working experience in planning and leading strategic initiatives;
Demonstrated ability with interacting and influencing executive level roles within an organization;
Strong ability to understand business acumen and translate strategic information into clear and concise messaging;
Proven experience developing and executing strategy in a complex, global, matrixed organization.
Demonstrated strategic thinking and strategy implementation skills;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Must be highly organized with a strong attention to detail;
Must exercise a high level of confidentiality and integrity;
Possess an ability to build consensus with strong listening skills, persuasive and effective written and verbal communication skills and data driven thought leadership.
Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite;
Must be 21 years old with a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany. Must also pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurance coverage;
Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;
Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith and Mission Statement.
Salary disclosure for residents of Colorado, Washington, California, Hawaii, Rhode Island, Washington D.C. & New York: ($45,000-$55,000) base rate plus a 0-25% differential.*
