About the Role
Programmatic Media Manager
Carbondale or Denver, Preferred, FT Remote Possible
This position is remote-eligible to individuals residing in the United States. At this time, we will accept applications from all US states except California, New York, and Washington. Priority given to candidates living in Colorado.
The Job
The Programmatic Media buyer will work within the Digital Media team at Backbone and interact directly with the media strategist to plan and execute buys within the DSP. This individual should have prior experience planning, buying, and optimizing programmatic media across multiple channels (Display, CTV, Native, Audio, Digital Video, Digital OOH). Their focus will be on having visibility and oversight of multiple campaigns’ performance in the DSP to adjust and optimize campaigns accordingly, primarily in a self-serve capacity. This role is responsible for ensuring the budget is invested in the right channels and inventory for the most optimal results. When working in a managed service capacity, this role is responsible for advising the media strategists on the most optimal investment and audience strategy to achieve the campaign goals.
The Work
Collaborate with internal paid media team to develop, execute, and measure digital media performance within a DSP platform via programmatic buying
Guide the team in the creation, strategy, maintenance, and further optimization of paid media campaigns within the DSP
Oversees buy stewardship, analyze campaigns, and recommend tactical changes to maximize campaign performance
Support the strategy team with data and insights to guide strategic media recommendations and supporting rationale
Further the agency’s ability to understand capabilities and new opportunities with a programmatic buying platform
Analyze data from the DSP to build out meaningful insights and learnings for future campaigns
Work with the analytics team to forecast potential outcomes from programmatic activity
Drive the exploration of new tools and opportunities in the programmatic landscape
Analyzes research and audience insights to assist in development of strategies and tactics
Work closely with the media strategists to ensure alignment with ad serving tools and dynamic ad serving capabilities
The Essentials
Bachelor’s Degree
3-5 years of relevant experience

Strong knowledge and experience buying cross-channel media within a large DSP platform (Trade Desk and Amazon DSP preferred), including display, connected TV, online video, digital radio, native, and digital OOH
Ability to develop, set-up, manage, and optimize all channels within a DSP campaign
Experience optimizing all Programmatic activity, including bid management, creative and competitor tracking
Experience working closely with ad serving tools to enable dynamic creative and campaigns
Able to work successfully in a team environment that promotes collaboration, as well as independently
Establish and maintain effective relationships interdepartmentally, as well as with those outside the team
Detail-oriented with exceptional critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities
Possesses strong quantitative and analytical skills
Has a strong understanding of mathematical concepts, and a confidence in daily budget pacing and media planning
Experience with a multi-touch or cross-channel attribution tool and strong understanding of cross-channel reporting
Has strong understanding of the principles of marketing and advertising, along with knowledge of media concepts and terms
Able to prioritize, multi-task and work under pressure
Willing to learn new things and challenge the norm
Demonstrates the principles of marketing and advertising, along with media concepts and terms, creative and budget requirements
Possesses strong communication, project-management, and time-management skills

Salary: $60k-$70k depending on experience
